[710] Ānanda, there are these fourteen offerings (dakkhiṇā) directed to an individual (pāṭipuggalikā dakkhiṇā). One gives a gift (dāna) to a Tathāgata, an Arahant, a Fully Self-Awakened One: this is the first offering directed to an individual. One gives a gift to a Paccekabuddha: this is the second offering directed to an individual. One gives a gift to a disciple of the Tathāgata who is an arahant: this is the third offering directed to an individual. One gives a gift to one practicing for the realization of the fruit of arahantship: this is the fourth offering directed to an individual. One gives a gift to a non-returner (anāgāmī): this is the fifth offering directed to an individual. One gives a gift to one practicing for the realization of the fruit of non-returning: this is the sixth offering directed to an individual. One gives a gift to a once-returner (sakadāgāmī): this is the seventh offering directed to an individual. One gives a gift to one practicing for the realization of the fruit of once-returning: this is the eighth offering directed to an individual. One gives a gift to a stream-enterer (sotāpanna): this is the ninth offering directed to an individual. One gives a gift to one practicing for the realization of the fruit of stream-entry: this is the tenth offering directed to an individual. One gives a gift to an outsider who is free of lust for sensual pleasures: this is the eleventh offering directed to an individual. One gives a gift to a virtuous ordinary person (puthujjana): this is the twelfth offering directed to an individual. One gives a gift to an unvirtuous ordinary person: this is the thirteenth offering directed to an individual. One gives a gift to an animal: this is the fourteenth offering directed to an individual.
