Dakkhiṇāvibhaṅgasutta

Suttapiṭaka · Majjhimanikāya · Vol. 14 · Section 715

[715] "And how, Ānanda, is an offering (dakkhiṇā) purified by the giver, not by the recipient? Here, Ānanda, the giver is virtuous, of good character, while the recipients are unvirtuous, of bad character. Thus indeed, Ānanda, an offering is purified by the giver, not by the recipient."
