[740] When this was said, the venerable Ānanda said to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, surely that young deity (devaputta) must have been Anāthapiṇḍika; for the householder Anāthapiṇḍika had full confidence in the venerable Sāriputta."
"Good, good, Ānanda! As far as can be reached by inference, Ānanda, you have reached it: that young deity was Anāthapiṇḍika, and no other."
Thus spoke the Blessed One. Satisfied, the venerable Ānanda rejoiced in the Blessed One's words.
