[748] "Friend Sāriputta, it is not that I lack suitable food; it is not that I lack suitable medicine; nor is it that I lack a proper attendant. Moreover, friend Sāriputta, for a long time the Teacher has been served by me only with what is agreeable, not with what is disagreeable; for this, friend Sāriputta, is proper for a disciple: that he should serve the Teacher only with what is agreeable, not with what is disagreeable. 'The bhikkhu Channa will use the knife (satthaṃ āharissati) blamelessly (anupavajjaṃ)' — thus, friend Sāriputta, should you remember it."
(Sāriputta:) "We would ask the Venerable Channa about a certain point, if the Venerable Channa would grant the opportunity to answer the question."
(Channa:) "Ask, friend Sāriputta; having heard, I shall know."
