[753] "Sāriputta, the bhikkhu Channa did indeed have friendly families, intimate families, and families to be visited (upavajjakulāni). But I do not say that to this extent alone one is 'blameworthy' (upavajja). Sāriputta, whoever lays down this body and takes up another body — him I call 'blameworthy.' That did not exist for the bhikkhu Channa. Blamelessly the bhikkhu Channa used the knife."
Thus spoke the Blessed One. Satisfied, the venerable Sāriputta rejoiced in the Blessed One's words.
The Channovādasutta, the second, is finished.
