[757] "The people of Sunāparanta are fierce, Puṇṇa; the people of Sunāparanta are rough, Puṇṇa. If, Puṇṇa, the people of Sunāparanta abuse and revile you, what will you think of them then?"
"Venerable sir, if the people of Sunāparanta abuse and revile me, I shall think of them thus: 'Gracious indeed are these people of Sunāparanta, truly gracious indeed are these people of Sunāparanta, in that they do not give me a blow with the hand.' So shall it be for me then, O Blessed One; so shall it be for me then, O Sublime One (sugata)."
