[787] "In the same way, sisters, suppose someone were to say: 'These six internal sense bases (āyatana) of mine are impermanent, but the feeling (vedanā) that I experience dependent on the six internal sense bases—whether pleasant, or painful, or neither-painful-nor-pleasant—that is permanent, stable, eternal, not subject to change.' Would that person, sisters, in speaking thus, be speaking rightly?"
"No indeed, venerable sir."
"For what reason is that?"
"Venerable sir, dependent on each corresponding condition, each corresponding feeling arises; with the cessation of each corresponding condition, each corresponding feeling ceases."
"Good, good, sisters! So it is, sisters, for a noble disciple who sees as it really is with right wisdom."
