[850] Furthermore, Sāriputta, a bhikkhu should reflect thus: 'Have I developed serenity (samatha) and insight (vipassanā)?' If, Sāriputta, a bhikkhu, reviewing, knows thus: 'I have not developed serenity and insight,' then, Sāriputta, that bhikkhu should strive for the development of serenity and insight. But if, Sāriputta, a bhikkhu, reviewing, knows thus: 'I have developed serenity and insight,' then, Sāriputta, that bhikkhu should dwell with that very rapture (pīti) and gladness, training day and night in wholesome qualities.
