Sūriyasutta

Suttapiṭaka · Saṁyuttanikāya · Sagāthāvaggasaṁyutta · Vol. 15 · Section 247

[247] Then the Blessed One, with reference to Suriya the young deva (devaputta), addressed Rāhu, lord of the asuras (asurinda), in verse: "Suriya has gone for refuge to the Tathāgata, the Arahant; Rāhu, release Suriya! Buddhas are compassionate towards the world. He who in the darkness, in the gloom, is the maker of light, the radiant one, the orb of fierce splendor— Rāhu, do not swallow him as he moves through the sky; Rāhu, release Suriya, my child."
