[259] One who is virtuous, wise, self-developed, concentrated (samāhita), delighting in jhāna, and mindful (satīmā), all of whose sorrows (soka) are gone and abandoned, whose taints (āsava) are destroyed, bearing his final body— one of such a kind they call virtuous; one of such a kind they call wise; one of such a kind fares on, having transcended suffering (dukkha); one of such a kind the deities (devatā) worship.
