[291] [Ghaṭīkāra:]
"Formerly I was a potter in Vebhaḷiṅga — Ghaṭīkāra;
I was a supporter of my mother and father, a lay follower (upāsaka) of Kassapa;
abstaining from sexual intercourse (methuna dhamma), I lived the holy life (brahmacārī), free from carnal ties (nirāmisa).
I was your fellow villager; in the past I was your friend.
It is I who know these seven bhikkhus, liberated,
with lust (rāga) and hatred (dosa) utterly destroyed, who have crossed over attachment (visattikā) to the world."
