[303] Setting at Sāvatthī. Then the Venerable Ānanda approached the Blessed One; having approached, he paid homage to the Blessed One and sat down to one side. To the Venerable Ānanda, seated to one side, the Blessed One said this: "Ānanda, do you too find Sāriputta pleasing?"
"Venerable sir, who indeed that is not a fool, not full of hate, not deluded, and whose mind (citta) is not deranged would not find the Venerable Sāriputta pleasing? Wise (paṇḍita), venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. Of great wisdom (paññā), venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. Of wide wisdom, venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. Of joyous wisdom, venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. Of swift wisdom, venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. Of sharp wisdom, venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. Of penetrative wisdom, venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. Of few wishes, venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. Content, venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. Secluded, venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. Aloof from company, venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. Of aroused energy (āraddhavīriya), venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. A giver of counsel, venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. Patient in accepting counsel, venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. A reprover, venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. A censurer of evil, venerable sir, is the Venerable Sāriputta. Who indeed, venerable sir, that is not a fool, not full of hate, not deluded, and whose mind is not deranged would not find the Venerable Sāriputta pleasing?"
