[319] Then Māra the Evil One (pāpimā), having taken possession of the young deva (devaputta) Veṭambarī, recited this verse in the presence of the Blessed One:
"Those devoted to austerity and scrupulousness (tapojigucchā),
guarding their seclusion,
and those who are settled upon form (rūpa),
delighting in the deva-world—
these mortals truly instruct rightly
with regard to the other world."
