[381] At Sāvatthī [the Blessed One] was dwelling. … and sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, King Pasenadi of Kosala said this to the Blessed One: "Here, venerable sir, while I was gone off alone, in seclusion, this reflection arose in my mind: 'The Dhamma is well proclaimed (svākkhāta) by the Blessed One — and that is for one who has good friends (kalyāṇamitta), good companions (kalyāṇasahāya), good associates (kalyāṇasampavaṅka); not for one who has bad friends, bad companions, bad associates.'"
"So it is, great king! So it is, great king! The Dhamma, great king, is well proclaimed by me — and that is for one who has good friends, good companions, good associates; not for one who has bad friends, bad companions, bad associates."
