[449] On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Sāvatthī, in Jeta's Grove, the park of Anāthapiṇḍika. Now on that occasion the Blessed One, surrounded by a large assembly, was teaching the Dhamma. Then it occurred to Māra the Evil One: "This ascetic Gotama, surrounded by a large assembly, is teaching the Dhamma. Suppose I were to approach the ascetic Gotama in order to confound their vision (vicakkhukamma)."
