[469] [The Blessed One:] "Māra has produced demerit by assailing the Tathāgata. Do you think, Evil One: 'My evil does not ripen'? Happily indeed we live — we who have nothing at all; feeders on rapture (pīti) shall we be, like the Ābhassara devas." Then Māra the Evil One, realizing "The Blessed One knows me; the Sublime One (Sugata) knows me," miserable and dejected, vanished right there. The Kassaka Sutta, the ninth.
