[472] [The Blessed One said:] "Yours indeed, Evil One (pāpima), is the eye; yours are forms; yours is the base (āyatana) of consciousness arisen from eye-contact (cakkhusamphassaviññāṇāyatana). But where, Evil One, there is no eye, no forms, no base of consciousness arisen from eye-contact — there, Evil One, you have no access (agati). Yours indeed, Evil One, is the ear; yours are sounds; yours is the base of consciousness arisen from ear-contact. But where, Evil One, there is no ear, no sounds, no base of consciousness arisen from ear-contact — there, Evil One, you have no access. Yours indeed, Evil One, is the nose; yours are odours; yours is the base of consciousness arisen from nose-contact. But where, Evil One, there is no nose, no odours, no base of consciousness arisen from nose-contact — there, Evil One, you have no access. Yours indeed, Evil One, is the tongue; yours are tastes; yours is the base of consciousness arisen from tongue-contact … Yours indeed, Evil One, is the body; yours are tangibles (phoṭṭhabbā); yours is the base of consciousness arisen from body-contact … Yours indeed, Evil One, is the mind (mano); yours are mental phenomena (dhammā); yours is the base of consciousness arisen from mind-contact. But where, Evil One, there is no mind, no mental phenomena, no base of consciousness arisen from mind-contact — there, Evil One, you have no access."
