[496] Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Uruvelā, on the bank of the river Nerañjarā, at the Ajapāla Banyan Tree. Now on that occasion Māra the Evil One (Māro pāpimā) had been following the Blessed One for seven years, watching for an opening (otāra), yet gaining no opening.
