[523] Then Māra the Evil One (pāpimā), desiring to arouse fear, trepidation, and horripilation in the bhikkhunī Āḷavikā, desiring to make her fall away from seclusion (viveka), approached the bhikkhunī Āḷavikā; and having approached, he addressed the bhikkhunī Āḷavikā in verse: "There is no escape (nissaraṇa) in the world; what will you do with seclusion? Enjoy the delights of sensual pleasure (kāmarati); do not be one who regrets it afterwards."
