[561] Then Brahmā Sahampati, having known with his own mind the reflection in the Blessed One's mind, just as a strong man might extend his bent arm or bend his extended arm, even so vanished from the brahmā world (brahmaloka) and appeared before the Blessed One. Then Brahmā Sahampati, having arranged his upper robe over one shoulder and raised his joined palms in reverential salutation toward the Blessed One, said this to the Blessed One: "So it is, Blessed One! So it is, Fortunate One (Sugata)! Venerable sir, those Arahants (arahanto), Perfectly Enlightened Ones (sammāsambuddhā), who lived in the past — those Blessed Ones too, honoring and revering the Dhamma (dhamma) itself, dwelt in dependence upon it. Venerable sir, those Arahants, Perfectly Enlightened Ones, who will live in the future — those Blessed Ones too, honoring and revering the Dhamma itself, will dwell in dependence upon it. Venerable sir, let the Blessed One too, who is at present the Arahant, the Perfectly Enlightened One, honoring and revering the Dhamma itself, dwell in dependence upon it."
