[568] When this was said, the Blessed One said this to Baka the Brahmā: "Alas, sir, Baka the Brahmā has gone into ignorance (avijjā)! Alas, sir, Baka the Brahmā has gone into ignorance! — in that he will say of what is actually impermanent, 'It is permanent'; he will say of what is actually unstable, 'It is stable'; he will say of what is actually non-eternal, 'It is eternal'; he will say of what is actually incomplete, 'It is complete'; he will say of what is actually subject to passing away, 'It is not subject to passing away'; and of that wherein one is born, ages, dies, passes away, and is reborn, he will speak thus: 'Indeed this is not born, does not age, does not die, does not pass away, and is not reborn'; and, though another escape beyond exists, he will say, 'There is no other escape beyond.'"
