[656] "What is chanted over with verses (gāthābhigītaṃ) is not to be eaten by me;
that, brahmin, is not the Dhamma of those who see clearly.
The Buddhas reject what is chanted over with verses;
while the Dhamma exists, brahmin, this is their way of livelihood.
But the consummate one (kevalin), the great seer (mahesi),
whose taints (āsava) are destroyed, whose remorse (kukkucca) is stilled —
serve him with other food and drink;
for that is the field for one who looks for merit."
