[699] "Toward one's mother, or one's father too, and then toward the eldest brother, toward the teacher as the fourth [3] — toward these one should be respectful; let these be revered by him, and let these be rightly honored. The arahants — grown cool, their task accomplished, taintless (anāsava) — having struck down conceit (māna), rigid no more through that underlying tendency (anusaya) [4], [let him venerate] them, the unsurpassed."
