[720] Sitting to one side, the Venerable Ānanda said this to the Blessed One: "Here, venerable sir, a brahmin named Saṅgarava resides in Sāvatthī. He is a practitioner of purification by water (udakasuddhika); he believes in purity by means of water, and he dwells devoted to the practice of going down into the water evening and morning. It would be good, venerable sir, if the Blessed One would approach the residence of the brahmin Saṅgarava, out of compassion."
The Blessed One consented by silence.
Then, in the forenoon, the Blessed One dressed and, taking bowl and robe, approached the residence of the brahmin Saṅgarava; having approached, he sat down on the seat that had been prepared.
