[744] On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Sāvatthī in the Pubbārāma, the mansion of Migāra's mother, together with a great Saṅgha of bhikkhus — some five hundred bhikkhus, all of them arahants.
Now on that occasion, on the Uposatha day of the fifteenth, the Blessed One was seated in the open air for the Invitation (pavāraṇā), surrounded by the Saṅgha of bhikkhus.
Then the Blessed One, having surveyed the silent Saṅgha of bhikkhus, addressed the bhikkhus: "Come now, bhikkhus, I invite you: do you not censure anything of mine, whether bodily or verbal?"
