[828] A second time the light vanished for the householder Anāthapiṇḍika and darkness appeared; fear, trepidation, and hair-raising terror arose in him. Thereupon he wished once more to turn back. A second time the yakkha Sivaka, invisible, made his voice heard:
"A hundred elephants, a hundred horses, … are not worth a sixteenth part.
Go forward, householder! Go forward, householder!
Going forward is better for you, not turning back."
Then the darkness vanished for the householder Anāthapiṇḍika and light appeared, and the fear, trepidation, and hair-raising terror that had arisen in him subsided.
