[917] The Blessed One said this: "Bhikkhus, once in the past, in this very Rājagaha, there was a certain man who was a poor human being, a wretched human being, a miserable human being. He undertook faith (saddhā) in the Dhamma and Discipline (dhammavinaya) proclaimed by the Tathāgata; he undertook virtue (sīla); he undertook learning (suta); he undertook generosity (cāga); he undertook wisdom (paññā). Having undertaken faith in the Dhamma and Discipline proclaimed by the Tathāgata, having undertaken virtue, having undertaken learning, having undertaken generosity, having undertaken wisdom, with the breakup of the body, after death, he was reborn in a good destination (sugati), in a heavenly world, in companionship with the devas of Tāvatiṃsa. He outshone the other devas in both beauty and glory."
