[919] Then, bhikkhus, Sakka, lord of the devas, conciliating the Tāvatiṃsa devas, spoke these verses on that occasion:
"One whose faith (saddhā) in the Tathāgata is unshakable and well established,
whose virtue (sīla) is good, cherished by the noble ones and praised,
who has confidence (pasāda) in the Saṅgha and whose view (dassana) has become straight—
'Not poor,' they say of him; his life is not in vain.
Therefore, to faith and to virtue, to confidence and to vision of the Dhamma,
let the wise one apply himself, remembering the teaching (sāsana) of the Buddhas."
