[946] Setting at Sāvatthī. Bhikkhus, once in the past a certain yakkha, ugly and deformed, was seated upon the seat of Sakka, lord of the devas (devānaminda). Thereupon, bhikkhus, the Tāvatiṃsa devas found fault with this, grumbled, and complained: "It is wonderful indeed, sirs! It is amazing indeed, sirs! This yakkha, ugly and deformed, is seated upon the seat of Sakka, lord of the devas!" But, bhikkhus, to whatever extent the Tāvatiṃsa devas found fault, grumbled, and complained, to that same extent that yakkha became ever more handsome, ever more comely, and ever more graceful.
