[112] "But, Sāriputta, if they were to ask you thus: 'But how do you know, friend Sāriputta, how do you see, that the delight in feelings (vedanā) was not present in you?'—being asked thus, Sāriputta, how would you answer?"
"If, venerable sir, they were to ask me thus: 'But how do you know, friend Sāriputta, how do you see, that the delight in feelings was not present in you?'—being asked thus, venerable sir, I would answer thus: 'There are, friends, these three feelings. What three? Pleasant feeling, painful feeling, and neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling. These three feelings, friends, are impermanent; it is understood that whatever is impermanent is suffering (dukkha), and so the delight in feelings was not present.' Being asked thus, venerable sir, I would answer thus."
