[205] "Bhikkhus, suppose an oil lamp were burning in dependence on oil and in dependence on a wick, and a man did not pour in oil from time to time nor attend to the wick. Then, bhikkhus, that oil lamp — with the exhaustion of the former fuel (upādāna) and with no supply of another — being without sustenance, would be extinguished. So too, bhikkhus, for one who dwells contemplating danger in things that are bound up with the fetters, craving (taṇhā) ceases. With the cessation of craving comes the cessation of clinging (upādāna) … Such is the cessation of this whole mass of suffering (dukkha)."
