[279] Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Rājagaha, in the Veḷuvana, the Squirrels' Feeding Ground (Kalandakanivāpa). Now on that occasion the Blessed One was honored, respected, esteemed, venerated, and revered, and was a recipient of robes, almsfood, lodgings, and medicinal requisites for the sick. The Saṅgha of bhikkhus too was honored, respected, esteemed, venerated, and revered, and was a recipient of robes, almsfood, lodgings, and medicinal requisites for the sick. But the wanderers of other sects were not honored, not respected, not esteemed, not venerated, and not revered, and were not recipients of robes, almsfood, lodgings, and medicinal requisites for the sick.
