Suttapiṭaka · Saṁyuttanikāya · Nidānavaggasaṁyutta · Vol. 16 · Section 281

[281] Then the Venerable Ānanda took Susima the wanderer (paribbājaka) and approached the Blessed One; having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, he sat down to one side. Seated to one side, the Venerable Ānanda said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, this wanderer Susima says thus: 'Friend Ānanda, I wish to live the holy life (brahmacariya) in this Dhamma and Discipline (dhammavinaya).'" "Well then, Ānanda, give Susima the going forth (pabbajjā)." And Susima the wanderer received the going forth in the presence of the Blessed One; he received the higher ordination (upasampadā).
