[323] He was dwelling at Sāvatthī … There the Blessed One … "Bhikkhus, suppose a man were to draw up two or three drops of water from the great ocean. What do you think, bhikkhus: which is more — the two or three drops of water that have been drawn up, or the water in the great ocean?"
"Venerable sir, it is just this that is more, namely, the water in the great ocean. The two or three drops of water that have been drawn up are trifling; compared with the water in the great ocean, the two or three drops of water that have been drawn up do not amount to a hundredth part, do not amount to a thousandth part, do not amount to a hundred-thousandth part."
