[313] He was dwelling at Sāvatthī… There the Blessed One… "Bhikkhus, suppose there were a lotus pond (pokkharaṇī) fifty yojanas in length, fifty yojanas in width, and fifty yojanas in depth, full of water, brimful so that a crow could drink from it (kākapeyyā); and a man were to draw out water from it with the tip of a blade of kusa grass. What do you think, bhikkhus: which is more — the water drawn out with the tip of the blade of kusa grass, or the water in the lotus pond?"
"Venerable sir, this alone is more, namely, the water in the lotus pond. Trifling is the water drawn out with the tip of the blade of kusa grass. Compared with the water in the lotus pond, the water drawn out with the tip of the blade of kusa grass does not amount to a hundredth part, does not amount to a thousandth part, does not amount to a hundred-thousandth part."
