[360] Bhikkhus, suppose a man were to drop a blazing grass torch into a thicket of dry grass, and he were to extinguish it quickly with his hands and feet. In such a case, bhikkhus, the living beings that dwell dependent on grass and wood would not meet with calamity and disaster. In the same way, bhikkhus, whatever ascetic or brahmin quickly abandons an arisen unwholesome perception that has gone astray, dispels it, puts an end to it, and obliterates it — he dwells happily in this very life, without vexation, without despair, without fever; and with the breakup of the body, after death, a good destination may be expected.
