[398] Those who abstain from the destruction of life (pāṇātipāta) come together and unite with those who abstain from the destruction of life; those who abstain from taking what is not given (adinnādāna) … ; those who abstain from sexual misconduct (kāmesumicchācāra) … ; [those who abstain from false speech (musāvāda) … ;] those who abstain from divisive speech (pisuṇā vācā) … ; those who abstain from harsh speech (pharusā vācā) … ; those who abstain from idle chatter (samphappalāpa) come together and unite with those who abstain from idle chatter; those who are without covetousness (anabhijjhālū) come together and unite with those who are without covetousness; those whose mind (citta) is free from ill will (abyāpannacittā) come together and unite with those whose mind is free from ill will; those of right view (sammādiṭṭhikā) come together and unite with those of right view.
