[397] He was dwelling at Sāvatthī. … There the Blessed One … "Bhikkhus, it is precisely by way of elements (dhātu) that beings come together and unite: those who destroy life come together and unite with those who destroy life; those who take what is not given …; those who engage in sexual misconduct …; those who speak falsely …; those of divisive speech …; those of harsh speech …; those who engage in idle chatter come together and unite with those who engage in idle chatter; the covetous come together and unite with the covetous; those of a mind of ill will come together and unite with those of a mind of ill will; those of wrong view come together and unite with those of wrong view."
