[380] He was dwelling at Sāvatthī … There the Blessed One … "Bhikkhus, it is by way of elements (dhātu) that beings come together and unite: those without moral shame (ahirika) come together and unite with those without moral shame; those without fear of wrongdoing (anottāpī) come together and unite with those without fear of wrongdoing; those of poor wisdom come together and unite with those of poor wisdom. Those endowed with moral shame (hirimana) come together and unite with those endowed with moral shame; those with fear of wrongdoing (ottāpī) come together and unite with those with fear of wrongdoing; the wise come together and unite with the wise."
