[485] Then the Blessed One addressed a certain bhikkhu: "Come, bhikkhu, in my name address the bhikkhu Bhaṇḍa, the co-resident pupil (saddhivihārī) of Ānanda, and the bhikkhu Ābhijjika, the co-resident pupil of Anuruddha, saying: 'The Teacher calls the venerable ones.'" "Yes, venerable sir," that bhikkhu replied to the Blessed One, and he approached those bhikkhus; having approached, he said to those bhikkhus: "The Teacher calls the venerable ones." "Yes, friend," those bhikkhus replied to that bhikkhu, and they approached the Blessed One; having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, they sat down to one side.
