[520] "Venerable Kassapa, it is with reference to three grounds of benefit that the rule of eating in groups of three (tikabhojana) among families was laid down by the Blessed One: for the restraint of incorrigible persons, for the comfortable dwelling of well-behaved bhikkhus — so that those of evil wishes may not, relying on a faction, split the Saṅgha — and out of sympathy for families. Venerable Kassapa, it is with reference to these three grounds of benefit that the rule of eating in groups of three among families was laid down by the Blessed One."
