[521] "Then why, friend Ānanda, do you wander on tour together with these bhikkhus who are unguarded in the doors of the sense faculties (indriya), who know no moderation in eating, and who are not devoted to wakefulness (jāgariya)? One would think you wander about trampling crops; one would think you wander about destroying families. Your assembly is breaking apart, friend Ānanda; your followers, who are mostly newly ordained, are falling away. This youngster surely does not know his measure!"
