[525] "Then, friend, I offered my outer robe (saṅghāṭi) of patched rag-cloth (paṭapilotikānaṃ saṅghāṭiṃ) to the Blessed One, and I entered upon the use of the Blessed One's worn, cast-off hempen rag-robes (sāṇāni paṃsukūlāni nibbasanāni). For if, friend, one speaking rightly could say of anyone: 'He is a son of the Blessed One, his own offspring, born of his mouth, born of the Dhamma, created by the Dhamma, an heir of the Dhamma (dhammadāyāda), one who has received the worn, cast-off hempen rag-robes,' it is of me that one speaking rightly could say: 'He is a son of the Blessed One, his own offspring, born of his mouth, born of the Dhamma, created by the Dhamma, an heir of the Dhamma, one who has received the worn, cast-off hempen rag-robes.'"
