[535] "Kassapa, these five things (dhammā) lead to the stability, to the non-confusion, and to the non-disappearance of the true Dhamma (saddhamma). What five? Here, Kassapa, the bhikkhus, the bhikkhunīs, the laymen (upāsakā), and the laywomen (upāsikā) dwell with respect and deference toward the Teacher; they dwell with respect and deference toward the Dhamma; they dwell with respect and deference toward the Saṅgha; they dwell with respect and deference toward the training (sikkhā); they dwell with respect and deference toward concentration (samādhi). These, Kassapa, are the five things that lead to the stability, to the non-confusion, and to the non-disappearance of the true Dhamma."
The Thirteenth.
The Kassapasaṃyutta, the Fourth, is finished.
Its summary verse (uddāna):
Contentment and the one unafraid of wrongdoing,
the simile of the moon, the visitor of families,
The aged one and the three exhortations,
jhānas and direct knowledges, the dwelling [of the bhikkhunīs],
The robe, after death,
and the counterfeit of the true Dhamma.
