[576] He was dwelling at Sāvatthī. … "Bhikkhus, whatever ascetics (samaṇā) or brahmins do not understand gain, honor, and fame (lābhasakkārasiloka), do not understand the origin of gain, honor, and fame, do not understand the cessation of gain, honor, and fame, do not understand the way of practice leading to the cessation of gain, honor, and fame … [to be elaborated thus] … understand these — they, having realized it for themselves with direct knowledge (abhiññā), dwell having entered upon it."
