Bhikkhusutta

[580] He was dwelling at Sāvatthī. … There the Blessed One … : "Bhikkhus, even for that bhikkhu who is an arahant, one whose taints (āsava) are destroyed, I say that gain, honor, and fame are an obstacle." When this was said, the Venerable Ānanda said this to the Blessed One: "But why, venerable sir, are gain, honor, and fame an obstacle for a bhikkhu whose taints are destroyed?"
