[634] He was dwelling at Sāvatthī… Then the Venerable Rāhula approached the Blessed One; having approached, he paid homage to the Blessed One and sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, the Venerable Rāhula said to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, how does one know, how does one see, so that in regard to this conscious body and in regard to all external signs (nimitta), the mind (mānasa) is rid of I-making (ahaṅkāra), mine-making (mamaṅkāra), and conceit (māna), has transcended discrimination (vidhā), and is peaceful and well liberated?"
