Apagatasutta

Suttapiṭaka · Saṁyuttanikāya · Nidānavaggasaṁyutta · Vol. 16 · Section 635

[635] "Rāhula, whatever form (rūpa) there is—past, future, or present; internal or external; gross or subtle; inferior or superior; far or near—having seen all form as it really is with correct wisdom (sammappaññā) thus: 'This is not mine, this I am not, this is not my self,' one is liberated through non-clinging. [This should be done likewise for the five aggregates] "Whatever feeling (vedanā) there is ... whatever perception (saññā) ... whatever volitional formations (saṅkhārā) ... whatever consciousness (viññāṇa) there is—past, future, or present; internal or external; gross or subtle; inferior or superior; far or near—having seen all consciousness as it really is with correct wisdom thus: 'This is not mine, this I am not, this is not my self,' one is liberated through non-clinging. For one knowing thus, Rāhula, seeing thus, in regard to this conscious body and all external signs (nimitta), the mind is rid of I-making, mine-making, and conceit (ahaṅkāra-mamaṅkāra-māna); it has transcended discrimination, is peaceful, well liberated." The Twelfth [Sutta]. The Second Vagga, the second. Its summary (uddāna): The eye, form, and consciousness, contact, and feeling too, perception, volition, craving (taṇhā),¹ element (dhātu), with aggregate—these are ten; the underlying tendency, and 'rid of'— hence this chapter is so called. The Rāhulasaṃyutta, the sixth, is finished. ________________ #1 M. Yu. read: saññā sañcetanā taṇhā. Lakkhaṇasaṃyutta __________ The First Vagga, the first
