[660] "Here, friend, as I was descending from Mount Gijjhakūṭa, I saw a female novice (sāmaṇerī) moving through the air. Her outer robe (saṅghāṭi) was ablaze, burning, become a mass of flame; her bowl too was ablaze, burning, become a mass of flame; her waistband too was ablaze, burning, become a mass of flame; her body too was ablaze, burning, become a mass of flame. And she was uttering cries of anguish. Then, friend, it occurred to me: 'It is wonderful indeed, sir! It is marvellous indeed, sir, that there should even be such a being, that there should even be such a yakkha, that there should even be such an acquisition of individual existence!'"
