[661] Then the Blessed One addressed the bhikkhus: "Bhikkhus, disciples truly dwell having become vision; bhikkhus, disciples truly dwell having become knowledge (ñāṇa), inasmuch as a disciple will know such a thing, or see it, or be a witness to it. Formerly, bhikkhus, that female novice (sāmaṇerī) had been seen by me too, but I did not declare it. For if I had declared it, others would not have believed me; and for those who would not have believed me, that would have been for their harm and suffering (dukkha) for a long time. That female novice, bhikkhus, was a wicked female novice in the dispensation of the Perfectly Enlightened One Kassapa. As the result of that deed she was roasted in hell (niraya) for many years, for many hundreds of years, for many thousands of years, for many hundreds of thousands of years; and by the residue of the result of that very deed she experiences the acquisition of such an individual existence."

The Second Chapter, the second.
Its summary (uddāna):
He who was sunk in the pit was an adulterer;
the dung-eater had been a corrupt brahmin;
the flayed woman was an adulteress;
the mangy woman had been a fortune-teller;
the sweltering woman — she [poured coals] upon her co-wife;
the beheaded one had been an executioner of thieves;
the bhikkhu, the bhikkhunī, the trainee nun (sikkhamānā),
the novice (sāmaṇera), and then the female novice —
having gone forth in the discipline of Kassapa,
they did evil deeds at that very time.
The Lakkhaṇasaṃyutta, the seventh, is finished.
